A SWEP soil test is like getting a prescription from the Doctor - it doesn't matter which pharmacy you take it to, you will still get what you need. In the same way, each supplier you go to will convert the kilograms of nutrient per hectare into applications of the products he has. This lets you compare each of your local suppliers on an 'Apples-to-Apples' basis, because while each may use different products, all the applications should be formulated to meet the same requirements.

Objective Recommendations

As part of our service, SWEP Analytical Laboratories provides independent and totally objective recommendations. SWEP does NOT recommend any products and all our recommendations are based 100% on what is happening in your soil and what your crop or pasture actually needs.

The recommendations that can be found in SWEP soil test reports can include some (but not all) of the following:

• Gypsum to improve soil structure, together with any sulphur and calcium needed for balanced plant nutrition - but only when required!
• Lime to improve soil acidity and increase soil Calcium levels - but only when required!
• Dolomite required to increase soil Magnesium levels and improve the Calcium/Magnesium ratio - but only when required!
• Magnesium Sulphate or Magnesium Oxide - but only when Magnesium is required but Calcium is not!
• Complete recommendations for all major and trace element nutrients required to achieve balanced nutrition for your specified crop or pasture.
• Desirable levels and nutrient recommendations for up to 3 crop or pasture types per sample - at no extra cost!
• Recommendations for appropriate Bio-stimulant treatments to optimise soil biological activity (Complete Soil test only)

If a soil test shows that any of these items are not required, you will find a Zero recommendation.

SWEP recommendations are as individual as your soil is - with its own Cation Exchange Capacity, Leaching potential, Rainfall (or irrigation), Land use and Yield target. Our recommendations rely ONLY upon the characteristics of the sample you send us - rather than regional trial calibrations that may be years out of date and carried out on different soils, perhaps miles from your property!
